Yourself isn't good enough!

I believe that as human beings, we do better with others to drive us.  I believe we are a creature of competition, camaraderie and overall necessity of friendships. With this idea in mind, I also believe that working out by yourself is limiting your success and hindering you from reaching your fitness goals. If you are doing bench press in the gym, and there is no one to spot you, you are only going to go so heavy. How do I do this? My schedule doesn't line up with my friends to go to the gym. My friends don't like going to the gym, it's just me. The only reason these question are present is because you have fallen into a gym trap. Stop wasting your money on a box gym to check off the box 'I go to the gym'. Invest in your health, invest in your fitness, and invest in bettering your life. Think about the things you spend money on that aren't helping you better your health, or life. Do you have one? Five different streaming services, expensive latte's every...

What is your why?

What is your why?  Everyone either has one I need one. It’s what gets us up in the morning, what motivates us, and  what keeps us excited when we’re feeling down with where we are.  What is your reason for starting or continuing your fitness journey?  Take some time and really think about that, why am I  exercising, why should I exercise, how should I exercise?  So many times people get burnt out on exercising because they have no clear-cut path to their goals. Setting goals and figuring out how to achieve those goals is the only way you will stay motivated through the hard times  of an  active lifestyle.  Some common mistakes people make when going into being more active, and trying to achieve a healthier lifestyle:  1.  I’m going to walk for 30 minutes on my lunch break, that will make me healthier .   If you were to think about all the things you do in a day, moving from the bed to the kitchen for breakfast, walk...

Kick start your body in the morning with salt

Salt? Is this guy serious, report him! Yes, salt. Not any kind of salt, pink Himalayan sea salt is key. The average person loses 1 - 1.5 lbs of water by sweating when asleep at night. It is safe to say that in that sweat you are losing much needed vitamins a long with it. So if we know this, how do we get our body's vitamins replenished and start our body off on the right foot to take on the day? The scariest part of salt is the lack of knowledge. When you read the title, the first thing you probably thought of was table salt and how bad it is for your blood pressure and over all health. This is true, table salt is a over-processed shell of it's former self from when it was pulled from the earth. The benefits come into play with pink seal salt because of a few key benefits: It contains 84 essential minerals required by the human body. 80% of individuals are deficient in magnesium, pink sea salt is a good source of magnesium. Promotes a healthy PH balance. Promotes sinus...

New Year Resolutions Suck!

We are coming up on the end of 2018 and I know what is on everybody's mind...those New Years resolutions. Lose weight, eat better, stop smoking, ect. There is a fundamental flaw that most people fail to realize, and this is why they don't stick to their resolution. Lack of GOALS ! These resolutions are just wishes. If you think back on past New Years and past resolutions you could probably put 'I wish' in front of every failed resolution. Everybody is guilty of it, even myself. If you were to approach this year a little differently and look at them as New Year goals, it puts a whole new mindset on things. Instead of eating better as a whole, maybe it could be, find a way to track what you're eating so you are more informed. Two years ago I started tracking what I was eating in the MyFitnessPal app. I didn't just do the foods that looked good and made me feel good putting them in there, I put it all. The bowls of sugary cereal in the morning, the late night sna...

Lift like a Russian

Ladder Method The ladder method is an old Soviet Union strength method used to get big and strong fast. A traditional ladder is a series of sets of reps, either ascending, descending, or alternating with a constant load. The end result of this method allows a person ending up doing more work in a single exercise then you'd normally be able to do, with a higher amount of weight average. By not maxing out every set, you are maximizing the amount of time you burn your muscles out and therefore can do the same weight, more reps therefore producing bigger muscle gains. Greater Volume + Greater Overload = Greater Gains A couple rules to remember: 1. Do not work a set to failure . You want to be able to keep a little energy left for the next set so you can cause maximum fatigue over a greater length of reps. 2. Rest periods adjust . If you are doing a normal workout routine, 3 sets of 10, you have a longer rest period at the end of the set. With the ladder method you ...
